RECALLING resolution A.490(XII) by which the Assembly authorized it to adopt the revised Code for the Construction and Equipment of Shi p8 ca:rr:i .L..i'g Dangerous Chemicalo in Bulk when harmonized with the Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Caxrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk as adopted by resolution A.328(XX). NOTING resolut).on MSC.6(48) by which it adopts, inter alia, amendments to Chapter VII of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (1974 SOLAS Convention), to make the provisions of the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code) mandatory under that Conve.r..tion, E.AVJNG CONSJ])ERED the text of the proposed raG Code: .1 ADOPRS !BC Cadet the text of which is given in the Annex to the present resolution;

2 NOTES that under Part B of Chapter VIr of the 1974 saLAS Convention as

by resolution MSC.6(48), amendments to the IBC Code &hall be adopted, brought into force and take effect in accordance with the provisions of

Article VIII of that Conventionj

3 FURTHER NOTES that the LBC Code will require amendments to cover pollution

prevention aspects prior to the entry into force of Annex II of the International Convention £OT the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, a.s modified by the

Protocol o£ 1978 relating thereto;

4 REQ,I:IESTS the Secretary-General to circulate, to all Governments concerned,
