1. Drivers

Subject to availability of space and the authority of the account holder, we accept bona-fide co-drivers, providing advice is received at the time of booking. Any passengers carried in

addition to the driver(s) may be required to make a separate booking as foot passengers, complying with Brittany Ferries' published booking conditions. Facilities and charges in respect of

drivers are outlined below:

Channel services: One driver is carried free of charge and is provided with shared cabin accommodation. For vehicles exceeding 9m in length with the exception of services to/from

St.Malo, a co-driver is provided with the same facilities at no extra charge. Additional drivers are charged £40 (€60) per head each way.

Spanish & Irish services: One driver is carried free of charge and is provided with shared cabin accommodation. Additional drivers are charged £100 (€150) per head each way and are

provided with the same facilities.

Any person travelling in a freight vehicle is subject to Brittany Ferries" Conditions of Carriage and The Athens Convention relating to the Carriage of Passengers and their Luggage by Sea

1974. Details are available on request.

2. Taxes

VAT is chargeable (or equivalent for country of departure) for all clients not registered for VAT in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Brittany Ferries is a trading name of BAI SA, which issues

all invoices for freight shipments.

3. Insurance charge

All commercial freight vehicles carried on our services are automatically covered by an insurance policy. This compulsory cover is provided at a charge of £4 (€6) each way. Separate

arrangements are made for vehicles exceeding 75 tonnes in weight; details of cover provided in both cases are available upon request.

4. Credit Card charge

A charge is made for payments made by credit card. No charge is made for UK debit cards.

5. Unaccompanied vehicles

A handling charge of £40 (€60) is applied to all unaccompanied vehicles.

6. Live animals

The shipment of livestock for breeding or bloodstock incurs a surcharge of 25% to the standard tariff and is subject to strict procedures, including the provision of a journey plan on each

occasion. Brittany Ferries systematically advises DEFRA of any proposed shipments, to ensure that all required standards are met.

7. Domestic pets

The carriage of domestic pets under the Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is prohibited when travelling on a freight ticket. Under certain circumstances, pets may be carried outwith the scope of

the PETS scheme - further details are available from our Sales Office on 0871 244 0411.

8. Parking

The maximum number of days of free parking at any of our ports for vehicles either embarking or disembarking is limited to the day of arrival/departure, plus two days. Some ports

(notably Portsmouth, Caen and Santander) allow significantly less time. After any free parking period, the port authority will impose parking charges, which (other than by written

agreement) must be paid prior to the vehicle being released. Details are available from our Sales Office.

9. Third party sea-freight

Unless specific provision is made in the cover agreement, rates apply solely to vehicles operating directly on behalf of the account holder. This includes bona-fide sub-contracted transport

but specifically excludes the sale of sea-freight alone to third parties. Any breach of this part of the commercial agreement between Brittany Ferries and the customer will result in the

instant withdrawal of all discounted rates.

10. Hazardous cargoes

A surcharge of £30.00 (€45) (£60.00 (€90) on Spanish & Irish services) applies for the carriage of all hazardous goods in Stowage Categories A, B or C, irrespective of quantity. For

Stowage Category D or E goods (highly restrictive - cargo vessels only) the surcharge increases to £100.00 (€150).

All hazardous shipments must be pre-advised to our bookings office and port office at least 24 hours prior to sailing.

Classes 1 and 7 are subject to special operational

conditions, details of which are available on request. Rates for these classes have been set at £1,500.00 irrespective of length of vehicle.

11. Minimum length

The minimum chargeable length for all vehicles is 6m.

12. Abnormal loads

For loads in excess of 2.6m wide, tariffs are in accordance with our Abnormal Load Table. A weight surcharge will be levied on any loads exceeding 75 tonnes. A surcharge is levied in the

event that an item needs to be loaded and discharged via the stern door, necessitating a double manoeuvre of the vessel. Details are available on request.

13. Currency surcharge

A Currency Surcharge may be levied on the mean average value of the £ Sterling against the Euro, in accordance with a published table. The rate of exchange will be taken from the

"Financial Times" on the last Saturday of each month, and any alteration in the surcharge will come in to effect from 0001 hours on the first day of the month following. Prior notification of

intent to implement a currency surcharge will be made in writing.

14. Fuel surcharge

A Bunker Adjustment Factor is levied according to a matrix available on our web site www.brittanyferriesfreight.co.uk. The level is reviewed monthly.

15. Ancillary Port Charges

The local port authority/stevedoring company may raise labour charges in the event of a vehicle/load being required for inspection by HM Revenue & Customs. Lifting, crane, parking and

demurrage costs and all supplementary dock charges are excluded from the rates schedules are available by telephoning the relevant UK Port Freight office.

Rates quoted for the Santander service are exclusive of Spanish G3 port taxes.

16. Unused bookings

Brittany Ferries reserves the right to charge for no-show vehicles and/or cancellations, in accordance with the terms outlined in its General Conditions for the Carriage of Freight.

17. General

We vary our fares according to market conditions or where costs beyond our control make such action necessary. No increase will be made after full payment has been received.

Brittany Ferries reserves the right to alter or modify its rates and Conditions of Carriage at any time without notice.
