Position Description

LMS Administrator

REPORTS TO: Registrar

LOCATION: Parkville Campus

BASIS: Permanent part-time position with a 6 month probationary period

HOURS: Three days per week (21.5 hours)

CLASSIFICATION: HEW Professional Level 4.1

START DATE: Immediate (October 2018)

Ridley Online is a world-class online theological education and formation program offering a range of diplomas and degrees. The rapid growth of the program has created the need for an LMS Administrator to support the students, staff and faculty. The role has the potential for growth and offers an opportunity to join a service-oriented team with a strong focus on excellence. This position is primarily responsible for the administration of Ridley College's Moodle platform. This position involves ongoing administration of courses and digital content and technical support. The LMS Administrator is part of the Registry team. Aims: This role will result in optimal operation of digital platforms through a period of rapid change and growth. This role will result in significantly improved support for: the Dean of Ridley Online and the Educational Designer through platform management the Registry by fulfilling Moodle and Logos-related student administration requirements the Digital Content Producer by uploading digital content all users through the assurance of current, consistent and accurate material on a functional, user-friendly system

Major functions:

The Moodle Administrator works under the Registrar, and closely with the Dean of Ridley Online and our Educational Designer to perform the following:

1. Platform

Troubleshoot problems to eliminate downtime

Liaise with platform host and other third-parties as required Maintenance of Turnitin and other third-party tools as needed Be proactive in identifying improvements and new technologies and liaise with the Ridley Online Dean, Educational Designer and other stakeholders regarding implementation.

2. New Course Set Up

Set-up new subject pages and upload new subject material for online and on- campus units Set-up online learning tasks and resources in Moodle (e.g. quizzes, assignments, forums, embed videos) for online and on-campus units as directed

3. Ongoing Course Set-up and Maintenance

Back up and archive data from completed subjects

Renew subjects ready for teaching (e.g. clear blogs, student enrolments, update dates, review and where necessary update documents) Make changes that improve subject design and content as directed

4. Moodle User Support

Be a point of contact for students and staff with Moodle issues

Manage new user credentials

Enrol students into units each semester

5. Logos Administration

Provide Logos with details of students for the provision of Logos licences Be a point of contact for students and staff with Logos issues

6. Ridley Certificate

Implement changes to the platform as necessary to complete transition to a new distribution model Become a point of contact for students and staff with technical issues

7. Video & Audio Curating

Manage video library on Vimeo

Produce private links to video material upon request

Update privacy settings as required

8. Liaise with Library Systems and Processes

Liaise with librarians to ensure coordination of resourcing on the LMS

Key Attributes

Technical competence or the ability to develop competence in Moodle Ability to work in a team to meet deadlines, prioritise tasks and communicate well with stakeholders Ability to work well with people with a strong 'customer focus'

Attention to detail

Preferred, but not required: some capacity for back-end coding and server management

Key Success Factors

Ridley Online staff, Registry and faculty are supported and are freed from having to deal with technical and administrative matters related to the LMS All subjects, new and ongoing, are set-up quickly The material is current, accurate and applied consistently across the platform Problems, updates and changes are resolved or implemented promptlywith strong communication and no technical hitches
