Accessing School work through glow

Most teachers make resources available through Google classroom or

Microsoft Teams.

Teachers might also share files through Microsoft OneDrive or Google

Drive.

The following short guide will show you how to access these apps through glow.

Step Instructions Screenshot

1. In your browser Search for ͞rm

glow login"

2. Enter pupil glow username

and password.

3. Pupils may have their own

shortcuts set up, but to find our school apps, click on the small house on the left hand side of the screen.

4. Look for the OneDrive or

Google drive if teachers share

files through these apps.

5. Google classroom is use widely

throughout the school. Pupils are given a code to access the classroom at the start of the year.

6. Some teachers also use

Microsoft Teams.

7. If you are looking for an app

that does not currently appear on the school launch pad, you can search for it at the top right hand side of the screen.

Show My Homework

Duncanrig Secondary School now uses the app and website ͞Show My Homework". This is an online tool to help parents keep track of their child's homework. Show My Homework will allow parents to

see the details of the tasks their child has been set, all their deadlines and their submission status

and grades. This system will improve the way we communicate with parents and give you them information about the homework we set. Materials will also be uploaded to the site and app and can be accessed remotely. Parents have been provided with login details to their personal account which is linked to their child's homework calendar; this where they will be able to see their child's To-do List and any homework that is overdue. To view all homework set please visit: http://www.duncanrig.s-lanark.sch.uk/ The link for Show My Homework is on the menu bar. Parents will need to use the filter options at the top of the page to find your child's homework.

The app can also be downloaded to mobile devices.

Pupils can login with their Glow Username and password. They should choose the option ͞Log in via RM Unify", which is at the bottom of the screen͗ Parents should type the name of the school in the box and use their pin code to access the app. If you do not have a pin code please contact the school.

TO WORK ON YOUR READING

Select an article which interests you, read it carefully and select at least 10 new pieces of vocabulary to look up. The choice of topic area is limitless. The temptation may be to pick an article on fashion, but you should avoid doing this every week as they are not so easy to understand. It is a good idea to vary the topic area and to choose articles related to the syllabus topics so that you encounter a variety of vocabulary. www.primerasnoticias.com A brilliant website with news articles written for Spanish teenagers. Texts:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/z6gw2hv National 5 https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/levels/zkdqxnb Higher At this stage, you can be revising by demonstrating and practising the skills you need for the unseen parts of the exam. Here are some ideas: Ten great revision ideas - English National 5 and Higher

1. Revise RUAE techniques and strategies using your notes - try

distilling your notes onto cards or an A4 poster for all the types of question.

2. Practise using your own words - take three sentences from any

article from a quality newspaper article and put them in other words.

3. Practise analysing word choice, imagery and sentence structure

in the same passages.

4. Try a past paper from the SQA website that you have not done

- be guided by your teacher on this.

5. Write summaries of each stanza/ section/ chapter of your

preferred Critical Essay text.

6. Identify and learn quotations from your Critical Essay text.

7. Practise writing introductions and conclusions: use questions

on the SQA website.

8. Summarise your Scottish Poems or Key Scenes from your Set

Text play.

9. Memorise important quotations for Scottish Set Texts - make

sure you can analyse each one.

10. Practise comparison questions - use past papers from

the SQA website.
