Qualifi cation assessment process
Applicants are assessed to prove their qualifi cation for theILS Master's degree program. They need a
B. Sc. degree with above-average success in ILS,
Physics, Mathematics, and/or Biology (or a B. Sc. in related disciplines, e. g. Biomathematics or Biophysics). If the B. Sc.'s mark is 2.6 or higher, the applicants must complete the second step of the asessment process in an oral examination. Applications for the qualifi cation assessment process must be submitted to the master's offi ce by July 15 th at the latest. For international applicants, we recommend applying before the 31 st of May. Initial applications should be submitted online via the application portal 'movein': studyportal.phpLanguage requirement

Integrated Life Sciences - Biology, Biomathematics, Biophysics The international master degree program in Integrated Life Sciences was jointly initiated by the Departments of Biolo gy, Physics, and Mathematics at the Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In theoretical and practical courses we teach modern concepts and methods at the interface between life and natural sciences. The program aims to prepare young scientist for cutting-edge research in cell biology, biophysics, systems biology, or synthetic biology. Progress in these modern fields necessitates the integration of techniques and con cepts from different science disciplines, e.g. in order to: understand the function of single biomolecules usingX-ray diffraction and computer simulations
follow individual molecules in living cells by applying novel high-resolution microscopy methods develop new computer algorithms to analyse the large data sets from genomics and metabolomicsunderstand how cells differentiate and organize into tissues, organs and whole organisms by means of quantitative biology and computer simulations
