The gender of singular nouns is u sually shown by the word for the: le (masculine) and la feminine). These change to l" before a vowel. The plural f orm is les. You can look up the gender of words in the F rench...English dictionary at the back of the book. A djectives M ost French adjectives change endings according to w hether they describe a masculine or feminine, singular or p lural word.
