Free Online Diagnostic Tests to Check Your Level of English For FLUC students of any degree course who are considering taking English as an option English 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 are all new courses this year.

If you are a studying for a degree in the Faculdade de Letras and you want to study English as an option but dont know your level,

you can check here to see if you have sufficient knowledge of English to understand the course materials and do the course work.

The Bibliography for each course can be found with the course description on Nónio.

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) categorises the levels of language achievement as follows:

CEFR A1 level (Beginner)

CEFR A2 level (Elementary)

CEFR B1 level (Intermediate)

CEFR B2 level (Upper Intermediate)

CEFR C1 level (Advanced)

CEFR C2 level (Proficiency)

English 1 and 2 are taught at CEFR B2 level, and English 3 and 4 are taught at B2+ level

English 5 and 6 are taught at CEFR C1 level

The tests below are designed to give you an approximate idea of your ability. We suggest the minimum scores which indicate the appropriate level of English for each course.

You are advised to take all three tests.

If you consistently achieve higher scores, you can still take the course you chose, or you may consider a course at a higher level.

If you consistently achieve a lower level than is recommended, then the course may be too difficult for you.

If you choose to take the course even though your English is below the required level, it is you who must be responsible for that decision. Test 1) http://www.cambridgeenglish.org/test-your-english/adult-learners/

We suggest:

For English 1 and 2 - A minimum score of 20 indicates sufficient knowledge of English at B2 level to take these courses.

For English 3 and 4 - A minimum score of 21 indicates sufficient knowledge of English at B2+ level to take these courses.

For English 5 and 6 - A minimum score of 22 indicates sufficient knowledge of English at C1 level to take these courses.

Test 2 http://www.examenglish.com/leveltest/grammar_level_test.htm You can do a grammar and vocabulary test, and also a listening test. Test 3) http://www.learn4good.com/languages/english_level.htm For English 1 - 4 The suggested minimum requirement is Level 7.
