Message from the OMLTA President

Hello and welcome to this year's Spring Conference,

Talk to me!/Parle-moi!

This is an incredibly exciting time to be a languages teacher in Ontario. At both the elementary and secondary levels, teachers are working to implement revised curricula placing a new importance on, among other things, authentic speaking in the target language. As we explore these new challenges, we turn to organisations like OMLTA/AOPLV to offer essential networking and professional dialogue. This year's theme is directly in line with the direction our programs are taking moving forward. Over the next two days, you will have an opportunity to explore a variety of strategies and ideas, and it is our hope that you will leave refreshed, inspired and eager to try new things with your students! We are fortunate to have Denis Cousineau as our keynote speaker, and to share in his extensive knowledge of the CEFR and the importance of speaking in language learning. I'd also like to encourage everyone to visit our many exhibitors and check out exciting new products being developed all the time to support you and your students. Over the last year, the Board of Directors has been working to develop a Strategic Plan for our association. During the conference, members of the Board will be circulating to collect your feedback and experiences as part of implementing our vision. Please share your ideas and let us know what OMLTA/AOPLV means to you. In short, talk to us! I hope you enjoy the conference. It has been an honour to serve as your President over the last year. Many exciting projects are on the horizon for us, including once again being able to offer Projet à Quebec to 50 FSL teachers in the summer of 2016. Please check our web site, follow us on Twitter or like our Facebook page to stay up to date on the opportunities we offer to further language education in Ontario.

Bon congrès!
