1. Conduct of Examination

Higher Secondary Examination is conducted twice in a year

1. Higher Secondary examinations, March / April

2. Higher Secondary Special Supplementary Examinations, June / July

2. Scheme of Examination

Examination will be conducted for the following subjects on the dates fixed by the Director of Government Examinations. The syllabus and Text Books are prescribed by the Director of School Education for 11 th and 12th

Standard (State Board).

Part I

Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu,

Malayalam, Urdu, Sanskrit, Arabic,

wise is shown in Annexure-I). • Permitted medium for Part III subjects are Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam,

Kannada, Urdu & English.

• Question papers will be provided only in Tamil and English. However question papers for the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, History, Commerce, Economics and Accountancy will also be provided in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Urdu Medium (For 10 important subjects-6 medium is provided).

3. Award of Certificate

Candidates securing 35 marks each in all the six subjects out of 100 (even compartmentally) are eligible for award of Higher Secondary First Year /

Second Year Certificates.

The concessions permitted to differently abled candidates are as per G.O.s mentioned in Annexure-III & IV. e) Process At the start of the course in XI Standard and the date fixed by the Director of Government Examination from time to time the Head of the school shall upload the Nominal Roll in the prescribed format in the officially prescribed website of this Directorate, the particulars of the pupils which are collected through Declaration forms, who will be appearing for the Public examination conducted by the Board from their schools.

5. Direct Private Candidate (HP Type):

a) Eligibility After issue of Notification by this Department in dailies, Higher Secondary examination for Private candidates shall be held during March every year. Special Supplementary Examination is being conducted during June / July every year for candidates who have failed (any number of subjects) in March session of the current year. Candidates applying for Higher Secondary Examination are classified under two categories as detailed below :

Regular Private candidates (H) Candidates who have once Registered for the earlier session of Higher Secondary Examination and failed or absented may apply in the same group.

Direct Private candidates (HP) Eligibility criteria:

For candidates who have appeared for the

SSLC Public examination and have

secured 35% of marks in each of the subjects prescribed for the SSLC Public examination or who have passed any other examination which is equivalent to SSLC

Examination in Tamil Nadu or Other State

Boards are eligible to apply.

(i)They must have a minimum of one year gap from the year of passing of SSLC examination or equivalent Examination and (ii)They should have completed 15 ½ years of age on the 1 st day of April / 1st day of June of the year in which Exam is held. Candidates can appear only for the subjects not involving practical under

General Education (Annexure I).

(iii)Candidates who have passed their

SSLC Examination in other states and

wish to apply for Higher Secondary

Examination in Tamil Nadu as Direct

Private candidate (HP category) should

obtain a Migration Certificate from their

Education Board and Equivalence

certificate which states that their

Education Board's tenth syllabus is

equivalent to SSLC syllabus of Tamil

Nadu to be enclosed along with the

application. Such candidates should appear only in the subjects and medium permissible by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

No Transfer Certificate will be issued

along with the Mark Certificate to Direct

Private Candidates and no other claim

regarding T.C. will be entertained. b) AGE (for HP Candidates) Should have attained the age of 15 ½ years as on the 1st day of April for

March session and 1

st day of June for the June session of the Calendar year in which the examination is to be held. c) FEES :

H type For each subject 50+35+50*

HP type For all subjects 150+35+2+50*

Candidates are instructed to approach their nearest Government Examinations Service Centres (Nodal Centres) for online registration of their application. The list of Nodal Centres are available in our home website. The fee for the examination has to be remitted in cash at the nodal centre itself. No

Demand draft or challan or cheque is accepted.

6. Distribution of Admission certificates (Hall Ticket)

(a) For School candidates Admission Certificate with candidate's photo is uploaded in the official website of this Directorate which has to be downloaded by the School. Register numbers will be assigned in Nominal Roll and uploaded in the website which has to be downloaded by the school before Commencement of

Practical Examinations.

(b) For Private Candidates The private candidates have to download their Hall tickets from this Directorate's website when the Instructions regarding downloading of hall tickets is given in News Channels/Newspapers. Candidates have to enter their application number and date of birth details in order to download their Hall

Tickets.

7. Online registration of applications for June Session :

Registration of the application for appearing for the June / July Instant Examination has to be done in the school / examination centres. For June / July Special Supplementary Examination the candidate has to enter his Current Year's March Register Number and date of birth details in order to download the Hall tickets. Time Table for the Higher Secondary Examinations will be hosted in the

Directorate's official website.

8. Release of results:

For March Session results will be announced during the second or third week of May in the website along with the marks. The intimation regarding result release will be published in all News Channels/Newspapers.

9. Provisional Certificate:

A New System of issuing temporary mark certificates (Provisional Certificate) was introduced from the year 2015.The certificate will be valid only for a period of 90 days. Candidates can check the accuracy of the marks and their detail and in case of any discrepancy, it can be rectified in the original mark certificate.

10. Transparency in Valuation :

With a view to bring transparency in the evaluation system, the following measures are adopted for the examinations stated against them.

(a) Issue of Scan copy of Answer Scripts for Higher Secondary

Examination:

With a view to bring transparency in the evaluation system, scan copies of Higher Secondary Examination answer scripts are issued to the candidates for all subjects. Candidates who seek scan copies of their answer scripts should apply through school / exam centres in the Directorate's official website. The fee has to be remitted in cash to the school / Examination centre. The candidate should receive the acknowledgement slip, once they register for scan copy. Approximately it takes 15 days for processing the scan copy application and to upload the scan copies of answer scripts in the Directorate's official website. When the intimation regarding downloading of Answer Scripts is given in the newspapers / news channels the candidate has to enter his / her Register No. & Date of Birth in order to download the Scan copy of the Answer
