AMBASSADOR"S

MESSAGE

Vinay Mohan Kwatra

Ambassador of India in France

Dear friends,

New year greetings to all of you.

As we usher in 2018, we can feel the palpable

energy and the manifest promise of the Indian economy. There are opportunities galore, waiting to be harnessed. The international business community realizes the importance of this moment and is heavily investing in different sectors of Indian economy. The Government of India is proactively working towards making the investment climate more and more business friendly. This trend is being reected in many international rankings like India's recent jump by 30 places within a single year to reach the

100th position in World Bank's 2017 ranking of

‘ease of doing business'. Similarly, the change from 71st position three years ago to the highest ever 40th position out of 137 countries in the

World Economic Forum's competitiveness index

and upgradation of India's sovereign bond rating for the rst time in nearly 14 years by Moody's are other testimonies to the fact. Projections for India in 2018 also echo with this trend- be it

IMF's 7.4% growth rate estimate as the fastest

growing economy or CEBR's (UK based Economic

Consultancy) projection for India as the World's

fth largest economy ahead of UK and France. It gives me great satisfaction to reiterate that

India and France enjoy a strategic partnership

and the economic and commercial cooperation is a very important component of our bilateral relations. There are unlimited synergies in various sectors including defence, agricultural, energy, transport and communication, space and aviation and health to name a few. However, our economic bilateral exchanges have much more potential than that currently exists and we look forward to improve, both the quality and quantity of these exchanges.

Presence of French businesses in India is

signicant and the presence of Indian businesses in France is also on the rise. The Indian companies present in France play a great role in strengthening the Indo-French economic partnership and bringing greater awareness about India in France, especially in the business circles.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce to

you the directory of Indian businesses in France and would like to extend my congratulations to all those who became a part of this. This is one of the efforts by the Embassy to publicise the Indian business presence in

France. We remain very attentive to all your

suggestions on strengthening our bilateral trade, commercial and economic cooperation.
