________________________________________________________________________ BordeauxFutures2016:Scoresfor500wines-www.quarin.com-March,2017 21/Perfectcolours.Thecoloursaresuperb,verydark,(signofthewine'sdensity)purple,deepandbright.2/PerfectfruityqualityThequalityofthefruitisexcellent,onthenoseasonthepalate,veryripe,butnotoverripe,withlotsoféclatandnovegetalnotes,apartfromthevinesthatsufferedfromdrought.Butgenerallyspeaking,theseplotshavenotbeenusedfortheblendingofthegreatwine.3/FantasticstructureofthemouthAndherearethethreereasons.-Loweralcoholdegrees!Thisiswherethegeniusstarts.Howtoripentanninswithoutincreasingthealcoholdegreeand thusweighing downthewine?AndevenifB ordeaux, thankstoits geographicalposition,isadvantagedin thisprocess, thisbalancehas never beenas perfectasin2016.Thealcoholdegreesaregoodbutlesserthanin2009,2010and2015.Andonbot hbanks! Asaconsequenc e,thereisn oheat effectin thefinish.Ont hecontrary,aprecisesensationappearsthatleavesthemouthfreshandencouragesthedesiretoswallow.-FantasticqualityoftanninsTheyaresoperfectlyripethattheyneverappearasharshortannic.Onthecontrary,theyinduceave lvety,silkyparticularlys tro ngsensation.Howeverthe2 016offeradensepowerfulbody,butitallshowstobeparticularlymelting.Thisassociationofpowerandrefinementisextremelyrareinsuchyoungwinesexceptin1982.Itisthehugedifferencewith2005and2010!-Butthereisbetterstill!Evenmoreoriginal,magic,inexplicable:lowPhlevels.Bordeaux2016phlevelsarelowandwellbelowaverage.Lowphmeanshighacidity.Andahighacidityshouldreinforcethetannins'harshness.Andyet,noonecansaywhythereisnosuchthing.Thisisthehugedifferencewith2005.Theadvantageofthisacidity,thatcannotbefelt,whichdoesnothardenthetannins,istomakeitgreatlysapid,fresh,drinkable,withrichstructuresbutwithoutbeingheavy,non-solarwherethefruitinessshinesandevenburstsout.Thus,thepleasurenoteofthesewinesisverystrong,eventhoughtheyareverypowerful,butthispowerisparticularlyharmonious.Thisfleshybutfreshsubstanceisthehugedifferencewith2009and2015!Thisqualityisnotonlyfortheproductionelite.Evenstrongera ndmoreoriginal!It'sthe entireprod uctionthat benefitsfromthegreatnessofthevintage.Thischeerfulpulpysensationisfoundonallkindsofsoil(lessonsandysoilswithyoungvines).Andthisiswhat'ssofantastic.Usuallythelessqualitysoilsarethosewithanimportantwatersupply.However,withthedroughtofthesummer2016,thesesoilsprotectedthevinefromblockingtheripeningprocess.Thus,therearegreatsuccesson
