BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
- Grammy Award-winning jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, along with his ensemble of renowned jazz artists, will hold their very first public performance at IU Auditorium with a specialHomecoming concert
on Saturday, October 15 at 8 p.m.Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist since the release of his 2004 CD, When
I Fall in
Love, and has gained acclaim in the contemporary music world as one of its most innovative artists.Botti developed his style of jazz while s
tudying at the Jacobs School of Music with the likes of jazz educator David Bake r and trumpet teacher Bill Adam. His powerful musical imagination led to the releaseof several chart-topping jazz albums - including To Love Again: The Duets (2005), Italia (2007), and the
CD/DVD Chris Botti in Boston (2009). His latest album, Impressions (2012), won the Grammy Award forBest Pop Instrumental Album in 2013.
Starting
his career playing alongside Frank Sinatra and Sting, Botti has sold more than 4 million albums and recorded and performed with some of the brightest stars in music, including Tony Bennett, LadyGaga, Josh Groban,
John Mayer, and Yo-Yo Ma - further establishing himself as an important figure in the contemporary music world . His style of jazz is praised as an expressive sound that transcends the limits of any single genre."Chris Botti's performances are awe-inspiring.
