It is grouped into t hemes, and key phrases are broken down into short s ections, to help you build a wide variety of sentences. A lot of the vocabulary is illustrated to make it easy to r emember, and You may hearŽ boxes feature questions y ou are likely to hear. At the back of the book there is a m enu guide, listing about 500 food terms, and a 2,000- w ord two-way dictionary. Numbers and the most useful p hrases are listed on the jacket "aps for quick reference. N ouns A ll French nouns (words for things, people, and ideas) are m asculine or feminine. The gender of singular nouns is u sually shown by the word for theŽ: le (masculine) and la feminine). These change to l" before a vowel. The plural f orm is les. You can look up the gender of words in the F rench...English dictionary at the back of the book. A djectives M ost French adjectives change endings according to w hether they describe a masculine or feminine, singular or p lural word. In this book the singular masculine form is s hown “rst, followed by the singular feminine form: I am lost Je suis perdu/perdue
