RECYCLING can reduce your
Household waste by 50%

appropriate bin: Corrugated Cardboard,
Paper & Boxboard and Plastic, Metal &
Milk Containers. Please help us keep the

Household Hazardous Waste and
Computer Recycling
Household Hazardous Waste is any harmful
substance that is considered corrosive, toxic, flammable, or reactive. Please do not dispose of any hazardous items in your regular garbage or down the drain. Bring them to the
Crane Mountain Landfill and they will ensure
they are handled correctly. There is no charge to bring Household Hazardous Waste to the landfill. Old computers are accepted at the same time but there is a $5.00 fee per computer system. They are open every
Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Fundy
Region Solid Waste Commission also hosts
Community Round-ups in October.
SPECIAL COLLECTION - WHITE
GOODS AND BULKY ITEMS
The Town will provide special collections of
³ROLPH JRRGV´, furniture and other large
typical household goods acceptable to the
Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission (i.e.
appliances such as freezer, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove, wall over, air conditioner, microwave oven, box spring, mattresses, couch, chair, etc).
You must pre-register for special
collection of white goods and bulky items by calling 832-6065.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Changes to Residential Garbage
and Compost Collection
Effective January 1st, 2012
IS THIS NOTICE FOR YOU?
This notice is for residents:
Living in a house or single-family
dwelling or a small apartment building with two units; and
Receiving daytime curb side garbage
and recycling collection from the Town.
This notice is not for:
Residents living in an apartment
building with three or more units; or
Business/commercial locations.
HOME-BASED OCCUPATIONS ± The
Town will only service home-based
occupations if the garbage generated from your home occupation can be accommodated in your residential compost and garbage carts. If your business generates more garbage and compost than this, please arrange for commercial pick-up of your waste.
CHANGES TO WASTE
MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
As of January 1st, 2012, the Town of Hampton is
taking over residential garbage and compost collection for the municipality.
The Town will be providing residential curbside
garbage, compost (including yard waste), over- sized items and white goods special collection services. We will also provide collection of litter receptacles throughout the Town.
The Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission will
continue to be responsible for the management of all recyclable materials delivered to the Blue
Bins located adjacent to the Service New
Brunswick Building on William Bell Drive.
The Town will provide each
residence with a garbage cart free of charge. The garbage carts will remain the property of the Town of Hampton and are given to you for your use. The cart is similar to your green compost cart (which you will continue to use for compost). Only garbage placed in the garbage cart will be collected. The Town encourages residents to compost and recycle in order to keep the amount of garbage down per household.
Compost and Garbage will continue to be
collected on alternating weeks. Your compost week will remain the same as it is now, as will your garbage collection week. Your collection day is indicated on the front of this notice.
Compost and Garbage Carts must be curbside no
later than 7 am on your scheduled pick-up day.
If you have a driveway, place your Compost or
Garbage Cart on your driveway; otherwise place
either cart at the edge of the sidewalk, blocking as little of the sidewalk as possible. The cart lid must be closed and the cart positioned so the handle and wheels face the road. In the winter, do not place carts behind or on top of snow banks. Please make sure they are clearly visible and accessible.
Residential customers
may register for the pick-up of oversized items and/or white goods by calling the
Town at 832-6065.
COMPOST: WHAT GOES IN YOUR CART?
Residents can divert up to 40% of their
household waste by composting. Fundy Region
Solid Waste Commission provides each property
with a green compost cart and small green kitchen bin. Continue to use this green cart for compost. If your property does not have a green compost cart or kitchen bin, phone 738-1212.
