Course Content and Strategies

The overall approach in the language development classes is communicative with students encouraged and facilitated to use the language learned on the course. This covers all aspects of French language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar activities. Class work includes individual, pair and group work, discussions, debates, roleplays, presentations, written tasks and listening exercises. Participants are actively encouraged to share their own ideas and experience in a friendly, supportive atmosphere while developing networks with other international students. In morning classes, a new project topic is introduced to the class each week. Students present their project work to the class at the end of the week which is then used as reference for their evaluation. The afternoon classes provide and enhance participants' key skills in communication by sharing knowledge and experiences, linked to cultural topics. Participants receive focused feedback thanks to a personal pedagogic dashboard which is filled in every week together with the teacher. Students have regular tutorials with their teachers to discuss progress and ways to maximise their learning while reviewing objectives and setting homework if necessary. Areas for improvement are addressed through revision sessions, progress tests and additional language and cultural workshops.
