The European Commission

In recent years, the European Commission has focused on integrated child protection systems and prioritised funding for training on rights of the child for professionals working for and with others to use after the project. for children in alternative care, in line with international standards. 1 2

In some instances, the

manual documents the fallout of not taking a child rights approach in alternative care and shows the immense value of care professionals integrating and embedding child rights in their work. I am pleased to see that the voice of children in care is such a strong component of the manual convinced that as well as ensuring respect for rights of the child and better outcomes for children, this training will help to ensure shared understanding and implementatio n of standards at Euro margaret Tuite European Commission coordinator for the rights of the child,

Even the best books are worth nothing if they remain sitting on a shelf or on a website without being read and used by the people they mean to reach. It is very satisfying to have been part of the process, to witness the enthusiasm of the people involved and to enjoy the output SOS Children's Villages has produced in this very worthwhile regína Jensdóttir
