... Max Weber's theory of bureaucracy had started emerging in Western society during the second half of the 19th century. According to him, in this new type of organisation, leadership and authority were derived from a more 'rational' framework than charisma or tradition as his predecessors formulated (Serpa & Ferreira 2019).
Max Weber (1864-1920), is the 'father of the bureaucratic organization theory. Max Weber evaluated organizations for consecutively their productions like a family, or what some of us might refer to as 'mom and pop'.
A notable feature of bureaucracy is that relationships among individuals are governed through the system of official authority and rules. Official positions are free from personal involvement, emotions and sentiments. Thus, decisions are governed by rational factors rather than personal factors.
This is a translation from German of Max Weber’s chapter “Class, Status, Party” from his masterwork Economy and Society (Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft). This chapter was probably written before World War I. Two German versions of Economy and Society have been published.
