Biometrics key binding

  • How do you encrypt biometric data?

During enrollment, the Biometric Encryption process combines the biometric image with a digital key to create a secure block of data, known as a Bioscrypt™.
The digital key can be used as a cryptographic key.
The Bioscrypt is secure in that neither the fingerprint nor the key can be independently obtained from it..

  • What is biometric key binding?

Biometric Key-Binding monolithically binds and retrieves cryptographic keys to biometric templates thereby combining the matching and key-release into a single step..

  • What is biometric password?

Whereas a password is a phrase you enter upon login, biometrics systems use something unique to your person, such as fingerprints, voice characteristics or retina patterns to identify you.
Biometrics and secure passwords used correctly can help keep your devices or apps secure..

  • What is biometric protection?

Biometric security is the use of biometric data for identification, access control, and authentication.
Hardware components such as cameras or fingerprint readers collect biometric data, which is scanned and algorithmically compared to information held in a database..

  • Why is a biometric password more secure than a pin?

Biometric traits are inherent to an individual and, in most cases, cannot be easily forgotten, lost, or stolen.
They provide a higher level of security and convenience, as users don't need to remember or carry any additional tokens or passwords..

Biometric Key-Binding monolithically binds and retrieves cryptographic keys to biometric templates thereby combining the matching and key-release into a single step. Classifier output is the key itself instead of a simple yes/no binary output.
For key binding approach, the chief idea is to secure the biometric template by binding it with the cryptographic key. The mixture of biometric template and key is stored as helper data [5]. The cryptographic key is externally generated and completely independent to the biometrics.

Abstract

We describe a template-based framework to bind class-specific information to a set of image patterns and retrieve that information by matching the template to a query pattern of the same class.
This is done by mapping the class-specific information to a set of spatial translations which are applied to the set of image patterns from which a template.

Contributions

Multi-Peak correlation filter design for binding cryptographic keys to biometric signatures.

Overview

Adversary can override the output of conventional biometric matching algorithms.
Biometric Key-Binding monolithically binds and retrieves cryptographic keys to biometric templates thereby combining the matching and key-release into a single step.
Classifier output is the \\(\\textbf{key}\\) itself instead of a simple yes/no binary output.
