Biosafety cabinet certification training

  • Primary tests performed include:
HEPA filter integrity testing – documents leakage or defects and ensures HEPA filters provide required filtration to prevent both product and environmental contamination.
Smoke pattern testing – qualitatively verifies airflow directions using a small source of visible fog.
Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs) is a web-based training program designed to instruct researchers on how to protect themselves and their products from contamination by learning how BSCs work and how to use them effectively.
Parts I and II take place twice a year at the Eagleson Institute, and can also be offered at other training facilities that have the necessary equipment. Part I
The Eagleson Institute's Biosafety Cabinet Certification Program consists of two phases with an additional (optional) third component.

What is the IFBA doing about biosafety cabinet certification?

In November of 2019, the IFBA spoke with biosafety cabinet certification trainees from the South East Asian region to gather insight into the challenges they face and identify solutions for improvement.
