Universities and nonprofit organizations can apply for one-time grants of up to $30,000 to address this challenge.
Only U.S. based programs are eligible.

A second round of grants for this purpose will be offered in fall 2023.

The Fund for Investigative Journalism provides grants and other support for reporters to produce high-quality, unbiased, nonpartisan investigative stories that have an impact.

Who is eligible for a journalism grant?

Freelance journalists, staff reporters and media outlets are eligible for grants, and their investigations can be for print, online or broadcast stories, books, documentaries or podcasts.

    Cross-border teams of professional journalists can apply for a grant to cover working time and/or expenses for their investigation

    Next to a grant, teams can also apply for a mentor to provide assistance with either the focus of the investigation or the need for competences in a specific skill
