Cosmology on safari

  • What do you mean by cosmology?

Cosmology studies how the history of the universe led to the stars, galaxies, and other features we can observe today.
Cosmology is the study of the origin, development, structure, history, and future of the entire universe.
In modern science, cosmology is divided into two branches..

  • Center for Astrophysics Harvard & Smithsonian cosmologists study the universe in many ways: Connecting theoretical models for the very early universe — cosmic inflation or an alternative scenario — with observable effects.
“Cosmology on Safari” will focus on the interplay between cosmological models and data, with emphasis on the challenges that remain in cosmology.

What is Aboriginal cosmology?

Instrument intended for the SPICA mission

The SAFARI imaging spectrometer was the European image sensor of Japanese infrared telescope SPICA and is being developed under the leadership of SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research.
SAFARI is an infrared camera with about 6,000 pixels that can make real ‘photos’ of the sky in three adjacent wavelength areas.
Fourier transform spectroscopy (FTS) obtains detailed spectral information, allowing astronomers to determine the chemical composition of the observed celestial sources.
The Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) is developing the mechanism of this FTS.
