Preparing meals involves specific steps and measurements and certain temperatures when cooking or baking.
Algebra is all around your kitchen because you do calculations on all the procedures to get the recipe right. - Mathematics figures into weight calculations, metric conversions, food costing, managing payroll, determining portion size, and ordering supplies.
In the accompanying classroom activity, students convert recipes from the metric system to the U.S. standard and then adjust them for different numbers of people.
