Whole society approach

This approach involves the promotion of 'broad multi-stakeholder partnerships… [that include] migrants, diasporas, local communities, civil society, academia, the private sector, parliamentarians, trade unions, national human rights institutions, the media and other relevant stakeholders' (GCM Resolution 15(j)).

A whole-of-society approach asserts that as these actors interact with public officials and play a critical role in setting the public agenda and influencing public decisions, they also have a responsibility to promote public integrity. At the most basic level, individuals' choices have an impact.

A “whole-of-society” approach to public integrity requires companies, civil society organisations and individuals to ensure that their engagement with the public sector respects the shared ethical norms, principles and values of society. How this materialises depends on the role each actor has in society.

Everyone should play their part – and not just individuals, but businesses, schools, local authorities and national government

(GCM, 2018: para. 15) A whole-of-society approach entails the robust participation of migrants and host community members in the implementation, follow-up and review of the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), as part of meaningful multi-stakeholder engagement.

WHO puts a whole-of-society approach, which means government engaging all stakeholders including the civil society, communities, academia, media, private sector, NGOs, other voluntary associations, families, and individuals to strengthen the resilience of communities and society as a whole.

"PHC is a whole-of-society approach to health that aims at ensuring the highest possible level of health and well-being and their equitable distribution by focusing on people’s needs and as early as possible along the continuum from health promotion and disease prevention to treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care, and as close as feasible to people’s everyday environment."

Structural approach is an approach in the study of language that emphasizes the examination of language in very detailed manner.This strategy, which is considered a traditional approach, examines language products such as sounds, morphemes, words, sentences, and vocabulary, among others.
