1 After you complete your dental assistant training, get certified in radiography. The majority of x-ray technicians complete their Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) certification. The exam will focus on anatomy, radiography facts, and safety procedures. The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) is the accrediting institution.The requirements for certification include: Completion of at least 3 months of continuous on-the-job training through assisting in the positioning and exposing of dental radiographic film under the direct supervision of a Florida licensed dentist ANDStudents must be able to take Digital Dental X-rays and Mount an FMX in a clinical setting as wellas, pass an online exam with a grade of 75% or better to be issued a Dental Radiology Certification. This course is to certify that the dental assistant is knowledgeable in and able to take Digital Dental X-rays.
