MacDonald remained at McMaster and pursued a PhD in the Medical Sciences Graduate Program in the Faculty of Health Sciences, in the area of muscle biochemistry.
Her PhD thesis focused on “The regulation of carbohydrate and lactate metabolism in human skeletal muscle”.
