OYENI GUEST HOUSE
Your home when away from home
Oyeni Guest House (OGH) is a four-star business situated in Ladysmith, KwaZulu- Natal. The guest house was established by Ms Sabo Mkhize in 2009 to accommodate soccer fans who visited the country during the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Sabo converted a four-bedroom family house into a business unit. She later bought her neighbour's house after it was put up for sale. As a result of this the capacity of OGH was increased from four to nine rooms. Sabo worked at different Protea hotels in KZN and added valuable experience to her diploma in Hospitality and Catering services. OGH offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Laundry services are available on request. A well-equipped conference room with seating capacity for 25 people is available for meetings and different occasions. From 2011 to 2015 OGH experienced a decline of 25% of the number of clients who used its services. After conducting a research on the decline, it was found that OGH had a lack of business exposure. The business had already done promotional drives and advertising campaigns. As further intervention, OGH embarked on aggressive marketing strategies using different media platforms. A website was created and clients could book online which helped the guest house a great deal. In 2017 the guest house won the Umezane Award in the category of accommodation and tourism services.
