Combining this with other syllabuses

Candidates cannot take Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) Biology (0970), Camb ridge IGCSE (9-1) Chemistry (0971), Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) Physics (0972) or Cambridge IGCSE (9-1) Co-ordin ated Sciences (Double Award) (0973) with this syllabus.

Changes to assessment

Paper 5, Practical Test, 1 hour 15 minutes, 40 marks -The number of marks for Paper 5 Practical Test is now 40 marks. The duration of Paper 5 Practical Test is now 1 hour 15 minutes. Paper 5: Practical Test will now typically consist of 4 exercises, only

3 of which will require the use of apparatus.

One question on Paper 5 will assess the skill of planning. This question will be based on any one of the sciences, which could be: Biology, Chemistry or Physics and may vary between each examination series. Paper 6, Alternative to Practical, 1 hour, 40 marks -The number of marks for Paper 6 Alternative to Practical is now 40 marks The duration of Paper 6 Alternative to Practical is unchanged. One question on Paper 6 will assess the skill of planning. This question will be based on any one of the sciences, which could be: Biology, Chemistry or Physics and may vary between each examination series. Signicant changes to the assessment are indicated by black vertical lines either side of the text. In addition to reading the syllabus, teachers should refer to the update d specimen papers.
