INVITATION TO MEDIA

Deployment of 190 Kenyan Health Workers to Ebola Affected Countries under

ASEOWA

What: Official opening ceremony of the briefing and training of Kenyan health workers to be deployed to Ebola affected countries under the African Union Support to Ebola Outbreak in West Africa (ASEOWA). Interview opportunities are available for the media.

When: 8 January 2015, starting at 09:00

Where: Sarova Pan Afric Hotel, Duma Room, Nairobi, Kenya Why: The African Union, under its ASEOWA mission, is deploying African health workers to the three most affected countries, i.e. Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. A call made by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma to African Union member states for qualified human resources to fight the disease has resulted in the deployment of more than 650 health workers to date. The Kenyan deployment will therefore be a valuable addition to the ASEOWA intervention.
