El área arqueológica de O Peto se descubrió durante el control arqueológico de la construcción de la Autopista Santiago-Alto de Santo Domingo.

Es un ejemplo significativo de la existencia de

estructuras anejas en el entorno inmediato del recinto habitacional de los castros de la Edad del

Hierro y constituye un espacio claramente

artificializado en el que se superponen estructuras excavadas en la roca, de naturaleza y finalidad diferentes. Este yacimiento albergó un complejo minerometalúrgico caracterizado tecnológicamente por la utilización de hornos bajos prerromanos sin sangrado de escoria que procesarían el mineral extraído en el propio yacimiento.

Torres, castillos y murallas: Proyecto de puesta en valor de los bienes culturales y las pequeñas localidades del Mediterráneo Occidental para la promoción de un turismo sostenible", financiado por el Programa Interreg III B MEDOCC. Castrum se propone promover proyectos de recuperación conforme a un modelo original de iniciativas de reutilización compaginadas con análisis de gestión. El proyecto comprende la formación de personal, la puesta en escena de recursos y de animaciones, así como la organización de una red interior consistente tanto en un programa de contenidos culturales como turísticos y económicos. El objetivo final es recuperar vastas zonas cuya importancia les hace representativas del paisaje Mediterráneo y con el que puede ofrecer una interesante oferta turística basada en recursos tales como medios rurales de calidad y paisajes excepcionales. El proyecto está coordinado por la Dirección de Bienes Culturales de la región del Piamonte y en él la Dirección
