I would like to welcome all students to the 2014-

2015 academic year here at Acibadem University

(ACU) School of Medicine. ACU is one of the most exceptional medical schools, while also being one of the youngest, in Turkey. ? e diversity of programs and unique learning experiences off ered at our medical school prepare students to be successful physicians who respect patient rights and adhere to ethical principles of medical practice. We encourage self-directed learning which inspires students to acquire and apply their knowledge in an environment supported by professional mentors. Our curriculum adheres to the highest professional standards. We train students to become physicians that deliver high quality patient-centered care. ? is is accomplished, in part, by balancing the use of scientific method with biomedical and social/ behavioural principles in the practice of medicine.

Changing patient expectations and continuous

developments in biomedical and information technologies are making it crucial for doctors to be capable in multiple fields in addition to their core expertise. ? e medical school consists of highly motivated and successfull experts in their respective fields. ? ey are keen to develop both the medical and intellectual skills of our students. Not only quality of education, but also wholistic student support is

always our top priority. ? e carefully prepared core curriculum integrates basic and clinical medicine with international,

multicultural, humanistic competency in theoretical and applied medicine. Examples of this are in-house

Center of Advanced Simulation and Education

(CASE) and our deeply integrated Clinical Medicine and Professional Skills (CMPS) and Medical English programs. I personally find these changes in the field of medicine exciting and dynamic. Once again I would like to welcome you to Acıbadem University and wish you all the best for a successful year.

Dear Students,

I would like to welcome you on behalf of the

academic stafl and our personnel to Ac?badem

University Medical School. I feel privileged to

inform you about a new, unique and exciting institution.

Ş e Medical School at Ac?badem University is a

powerful organization. Although it was established in year 2007, accepting its first students in 2009, the whole story started when Ac?badem Health

Group (AHG) opened up its first hospital on the

Asian side of Istanbul in 1991. Building know-how

and experience over the years matriculated into Ac?badem University and the Medical School. Ş e academic stafl is strong at Ac?badem University Medical School. Two hundred enthusiastic academic personnel are readily available to educate you to perfection all around the year and clock. One hundred twenty of these medical faculties

with academic titles were chosen from the AHG with diverse research capabilities and clinical skills. Eighty of the teachers were recruited from national and international sources. Ş e entire medical faculty is full time practicing in the Medical School. We have forty basic science academic stafl that is fully functional in our campus building 7 and also operating through the state of the art

performing active research and creating a rich and productive educational environment for you. We aimed to accomplish a family environment for you. ? e medical faculty was trained intensively and this new team's continuing education is still under progress in an eff ort to give you the best medical education. ? e curriculum development committee prepared you an exciting and enjoyable program after years of vigorous work. It was refined to perfection once again this year. It's unique in many ways. ? e medical disciplines are taught in an integrated way relayed by theoretical and practical courses. ? e integrated blocks are well nourished by clinical medicine and professional skills (CMPS) courses. ? e CMPS the mostly we are proud of enables you to get in touch with the patients from very first day. CMPS also allows you to improve the practical aspects of your medical performance in a simulated fashion. It is well harmonized with courses containing research methodology, medical humanity and ethical issues. In addition, you will be a part of interactive modules. You will try to solve a medical problem in an interdisciplinary fashion that will foster your reasoning and research capabilities in each of these classes. One of the revolutionary parts of the curriculum is the intensive medical informatics courses that are refl ection of our vision about the new millennium's physician. ? ese courses are spread out the first and second year. ? ey are mostly comprised of teaching basic medical informatics the first year.

? e second year is scrambled with bioinformatics and biomedical technologies in order to serve the needs of a scientist in the new millennium. Medical English classes support the language of education the first three years. Moreover, the electives and

especially the enrichment lectures will help you improve your intellectual capacity. ? e assignment of a mentor to each student favors apprenticeship education establishing a family environment. I think we could not use this eff ective tool if we were not hire this highly qualified numerous medical faculty.

We fully operate in our new campus armed with

state of the art teaching and social facilities since

2013. New campus have the cutting edge education

technologies refl ective of AHG highest medical and engineering standards.

OUR AIM, MISSION and VISION

Our aim at Acıbadem University, School of

Medicine is to train our students in accordance

with the highest professional standards providing a broad range of scientific knowledge, practical and behavioral skills which will translate into high quality patient care and high level of scientific curiosity enabling him/her to make scientific research. ? e physician at our focus is creative, competent and capable to collaborate with his/her colleagues and subordinates in order to provide the best health care at the institutional and global level. ? e student will learn how to learn and where to find the information when needed.

We aim to accomplish this goal by continuous

medical education and self development that would assure the delivery of high quality medicine.

In this context, every graduate from our medical
