Introduction

English is the most significant language in the world as nearly 20% of people communicate in this language around the world. It is the most extensively studied second language, with about 60 sovereign states using it as their official language or one of their official languages. The number of persons who have learnt English as a second language outnumbers the number of native speakers. This essay will analyze the role of English in the modern world. To begin with, over 1 billion people use English as a second language and this figure is far bigger in comparison with that of native speakers. It means that it is the most desirable language to learn in the world. Moreover, the USA is the largest English speaking country on Earth, but there are some other countries like India where English plays an essential role in every aspect of life. It is also the main language used in nearly all conferences of the UN due to the fact that it will be more effective and understandable for all nations. It is the most widely spoken Germanic language, with at least 70% of Indo-European branch speakers using it. As a result, it is very possible that if you meet someone from another nation, you will both be able to communicate in English. It opens up the world to you and allows you to communicate with people 250
from all around the world. Learning a second language improves your cognitive and analytical skills. Learning a new language can be challenging and requires a lot of mental exercises. According to a 2012 Swiss study, learning a new language alters brain architecture, influencing the areas of the brain responsible for memory, conscious thought, and creativity. Bilingualism, in the long run, can keep the brain fit and healthy into old age, as well as support focus and memory skills. On an individual level, it enhances personality and boosts self-esteem. To put it simply, learning a foreign language strengthens and expands the brain's capabilities. Besides, English is widely used in many international commercial organizations as the only way of communication. Therefore, it can be said that English is the language of business around the globe. Thus, partners should know this language in order to build up more reliable partnership. To facilitate communication and performance across geographically diverse functions and business endeavours, a growing number of multinational companies are mandating English as the common corporate language. English is currently the internet's primary language. Every day, an estimated 565 million individuals access the internet, and around 52 percent of the world's most frequented websites are shown in English. As a result, mastering this language grants access to more than half of the internet's material, which would otherwise be unavailable. If you understand English, whether for leisure or for work, you will be able to exchange information with more people online and use a wider range of things. It is a true fact that English is being used in every aspect of life at the present time. Millions of people throughout the world are frantically seeking to learn English²not just for personal gain, but also for economic reasons. This essay will briefly analyze the importance of English in economic, social and cultural terms. To start with, English is the language of business which means that it is utilized by commercial companies as a unique way of communication. They understand each other with the help of this language and as a result, businesses prosper. Moreover, international economic relations are also conducted in this language even though both sides have their own native languages. English abilities will most certainly aid you in any business endeavour you choose to pursue. This is especially true if you work in the international sector or if you want to advance your career from a local to an international level in the future. If you go to the offices of commercial companies, governmental agencies, or even math or engineering firms, you will see that English is widely used. Many large corporations will only hire professional employees after determining whether or not they speak good English. It is not commonplace for organizations that want to operate on an international scale to consider their 251
employees to be properly educated only if they are fluent English speakers, writers, and readers. Secondly, people using English around the world become friends more easily as they are united by using a common language. As a consequence, a mutual understanding can provide peace on the globe as they understand each other far better in one language. In cultural terms, as people come together by utilizing the same language, they are more likely to experience other cultures and traditions. Moreover, cultures are described in English in more details in books or websites. Speaking a common language can help individuals to know each other more closely. Everyone, in my opinion, should learn the language in order to communicate on a global scale. Speaking English will enable you to communicate with people from all around the world, not only those who speak English. This is true whether you are travelling, conducting business, or connecting with others on social media. It is easier to go around the world if you have a strong comprehension of English communication. Because English is the primary worldwide common language for foreigners, understanding it makes it simple to obtain aid and assistance in many regions of the world. The notion that English is the most significant language might overshadow the significance of cultural identities associated with languages other than English. The growing usage of English may also lead to the demise of less popular languages that are nevertheless important in many people's lives. English is the most popular language in the world and more and more people are willing to learn this language. English has been designated as an international language. Its significance has grown much more in this day and age of instant communication. With the advent of the Internet, the entire world has shrunk into a global village. "English" is the language of this global village. This essay will outline the main reasons why it is a highly desirable language to learn. First and foremost, the world needs a common language so that all the nations on Earth can understand each other. Therefore, they see English as the most effective way of communication. People can learn more about each other more closely if they communicate in one language. In this way, they will be able to experience the cultures and feelings of each other. Because English is used to communicate all around the world, it is highly crucial in our daily lives. If we go to any large companies to apply for jobs, they will first look at how we speak English. As the international language, it is also understood by a large number of people worldwide. We must prioritize English as the second most important language after our mother tongue. Secondly, many people regard English as an opportunity to be promoted at work. For example, some companies require their employees to know English. As a result, it will 252
lead to a rise in the number of people learning English. English is a vital task because it allows us to find work. The English language is used in the majority of the functional articles. As they are frequently utilized on websites on the internet, they also provide a range of ways for individuals to communicate with one another. Last but not least, English is the language of business. Business partners tend to communicate in this language no matter where they are. Hence, there is a great need for English among businesses as well. Furthermore, all books on business are mostly published in English which urges learners to study it. Knowing it has nearly become a need for anyone who wants to work in a global industry. Cross-border business communication is most typically performed in English, according to research from throughout the world, and many international organizations want staff to be fluent in English. It's likely that as automated translation systems improve, understanding English will become less important when communicating abroad. Although the majority of online pages are in English, many can be translated. Many videos feature subtitles in many languages, and a smartphone app can help you communicate with someone who doesn't speak the same language as you. In summary, English is the most widely spoken in the world and it is still continuing to gain more popularity. Therefore, learning this language will enable every individual to achieve more success in whatever they do.
