How do I use HTTP GET/response?

1. The Basic HTTP GET/response interaction Let’s begin our exploration of HTTP by downloading a very simple HTML file—one that is very short, and contains no embedded objects. Do the following: 1. Start up your web browser. 2. Start up the Wireshark packet sniffer, as described in the Introductory lab (but don’t yet begin packet capture).

What is the entity body in HTTP GET?

In the case of our HTTP GET, the entity body in the response is the entire requested HTML file. In our case here, the HTML file is rather long, and at 4500 bytes is too large to fit in one TCP packet.

How does HTTP/2 work?

HTTP/2 introduces an extra step: it divides HTTP/1.x messages into frames which are embedded in a stream. Data and header frames are separated, which allows header compression. Several streams can be combined together, a process called multiplexing, allowing more efficient use of underlying TCP connections.

What are the two types of HTTP messages?

There are two types of messages: requests sent by the client to trigger an action on the server, and responses, the answer from the server. HTTP messages are composed of textual information encoded in ASCII, and span over multiple lines. In HTTP/1.1, and earlier versions of the protocol, these messages were openly sent across the connection.
