PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS

864 Initial Testing and Implementation Procedures

Following are step by step 864 initial testing and implementation procedures:

1 - Insure that you have the latest copy of the JCPenney EDI manual. You should also have a copy of the

VICS Retail Industry Conventions and Guidelines for EDI.

2 - Modify your existing computer systems to meet JCPenney's 864 mapping specifications.

NOTE - Suppliers should test and implement the 864 location address transaction set into production status before they begin testing the 850 purchase order.

3 - Generate test data simulating all of the variable conditions you will receive per our 864 mapping

specifications.

4 - Pass your 864 test data through your EDI translator and data processing system.

5 - Contact your network provider and verify that they will accept the 864 version you desire to receive.

6 - After you have successfully processed your own 864 test data through your data processing system

and translator, complete the "Request to Initiate or Change EDI Status" (form 9.2).

7 - On receipt of your 9.2 form, JCPenney's EDI support will contact you to verify that you are ready to

receive 864 test transmissions. We will only send three pre-canned 864 test transmissions (see test file

examples, Part 3). The three transmissions will contain the following: Day 1 - 864 location address segments containing 5 dummy store locations. Day 2 - 864 location address segments containing changes to store locations received previous day (day 1).

Day 3 - 864 location address segments containing changes to updated location information master file

after processing of previous day (day 2). NOTE - If it is necessary for you to receive the three pre-canned 864 test transmissions again, you must email a written request to JCPenney's EDI support at edi9900@jcpenney.com.

8 - After you have successfully processed your 864 test transmissions through your data processing

system, notify EDI support that you are ready to go into 864 production status by submitting form 9.2 to

us. NOTE - Prior to receiving your first 864 production transmission containing location address information segments from JCPenney, delete the location master test file created from the

864 test transmissions.

9 - Upon receipt of your 9.2 form, EDI support will contact you to inform you of the status change of the

864 from test to production. Your first 864 production transmission will contain location addresses for

the entire JCPenney company. NOTE - A company may have multiple JCPenney 6 digit supplier numbers. For each 6 digit supplier number, JCPenney ascertains which EDI transactions are to be sent and the applicable Receiver ID. If your company has more than one JCPenney 6 digit supplier number, you may or may not elect to receive duplicate 864 location address files. In the example below, ABC company has 3 JCPenney supplier numbers, and has elected to receive only one 864 location address file. XYZ company also has 3 JCPenney supplier numbers, however they have elected to receive two 864 location address files.
