Here is a quick guide on how to install R and R Studio, which will be used in the R Workshop. Please remember to install R ifirst and then R Studio afterwards. If you have questions or issues regarding the installation, please do not hesitate to ask Tommi (TSVV) or Maja (MJKN).

Download and install core R ifiles

1.Go to www.r-project.org

2.Click "download R"

3.Click the link under Denmark: http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/cran/

4.Click "Download R for Windows"

5.Click "install R for the ifirst time"

6.Click "Download R x.y.z for Window"

7.Open the downloaded .exe ifile

8.Click "Run"

9.Write your password for the CORP network

10.Select the installation language and click "OK"

11.Click "Next" (three times )

12.Select your personal folder as the destination location (e.g.

C:\Users\mjkn\Documents\R\R-3.2.0). Note: You cannot install the program in your Program Files folder due to lack of administrator rights

13.Click "Next"

14.Now make sure that "Core Files" and "32-bit Files" are ticked. If you have a 64-bit

computer also tick "64-bit Files"

15.Click "Next"

16.Select default settings

17.Click "Next" and proceed with the installation

18.Click "Finish"

19.Congratulations - you have successfully installed R (hopefully ...)

Download and install R Studio

1.Go to http://www.rstudio.com/

2.Go to "Products" and click "R Studio"

3.Click "RStudio Desktop"

4.Click "DOWNLOAD RSTUDIO DESKTOP"

5.Under "ZIP/Tarballs, select "RStudio a.b.c. - Windows XP/Vista/7/8"

6.Open the downloaded .zip ifile

7.Click "Extract all ifiles"

8.Click "Browse"

9.Click on your initials, e.g. "MJKN (Maja Hermann Kamstrup-Nielsen)"

10.Click on "My Documents"

11.Click "Make New Folder"

12.Name it "RStudio"

13.Click "OK"

14.In the created "RStudio" folder go to the "bin" folder

15.Launch R Studio by double clicking "rstudio" (it is the ifile with the round blue R

icon)

16.Untick "Always ask ..."

17.Right click the blue R icon on the task bar and select "Pin this program to taskbar"
