This is for a term-limited position of up to 12-months, to support a range of activities supported by Bloomberg
Philanthropies. The Climate and Energy Data Analyst will provide computational and analytic support to
Washington Uniǀersity and the City of St. Louis's Office of Sustainability and Building Diǀision, helping to adǀance
regional carbon reduction goals through energy efficiency and renewable energy procurement.Key Responsibilities
1. Work with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Sustainability, staff from the City of St. Louis, and other
partners including the US Green Building Council Missouri Gateway Chapter to support energy efficiency
in the building sector by analyzing energy benchmarking data, reviewing draft policies and plans, and
supporting the development of a data visualization platform. Support additional City of St. Louis goals
through the American Cities Climate Challenge.2. Collect and analyze data to support decision-making, benchmarking, and goal-setting for energy
efficiency, renewable energy procurement and carbon reduction goals. Develop compelling data visualizations and materials to support the programmatic goals of the spring 2020 Midwest Collegiate Climate Summit, as well as a Fall 2019 St. Louis regional cross-sector forum on climate change.3. Participate on the OneSTL Energy & Emissions working group with regional collaborators to coordinate
and advance regional climate change mitigation goals and activities. Participate in team meetings, share
best practices, develop new resources, increase collaborations, and amplify impact of concurrent climate
change related efforts.4. Work with faculty, administrators and students in coursework and co-curricular activities related to
advancing climate change efforts in the City of St. Louis and St. Louis region.5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, enǀironmental planning or a related field with two
years related experience.Experience working with software tools, applications and analyses relevant to the energy industry and
carbon accounting.Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in engineering, enǀironmental science or business administration. Excellent team and service orientation with proven oral and written communication skills.Ideal candidate will have proven ability to work directly with cross-sector partners, faculty, researchers,
students and other technical experts.Strong quantitative skills, including a high degree of competence with data analytics tools, including
advanced Excel skills, Python, Tableau, and others. Knowledge of the energy sector, building sector, carbon accounting, and climate change mitigation strategies.Ability to translate technical data to non-technical audiences through effective data visualization and
written executive-level summaries. Graphic design competencies related to laying out documents and presentations, specifically with theAdobe Creative Suite, is preferred.
Ability to work with and effectively tailor communications to people with a diversity of backgrounds,
perspectives, and needs.Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and skills for navigating issues of power, privilege, identity, racial
equity, and cultural humility. Ideal candidate will have proven ability to work with a diverse group of
cross-sector stakeholders, as well as higher education stakeholders, including executive leaders, faculty,
staff, and students.Excellent problem-solving ability.
Capable of identifying and effectively utilizing available resources to drive high-quality outcomes. Calm and solutions-oriented in high-pressure situations.Compensation
