Difference between biophysics and medical physics

  • You can't say for certain that one is more difficult than the other, but if you know what kind of student you are, then the choice may be clear.
If you're the kind of student that has always done well regardless of the subject, the broad interdisciplinary nature of biophysics mightn't faze you.Oct 20, 2022

What is medical physics?

Medical physics, a branch of biophysics, is any application of physics to medicine or healthcare, ranging from radiology to microscopy and nanomedicine.
For example, physicist Richard Feynman theorized about the future of nanomedicine.
He wrote about the idea of a medical use for biological machines (see nanomachines ).

What is the difference between medical physics and Biophysics?

Medical Physics is geared towards the use of the concepts of Physics in the diagnosis, treatment/management of human diseases such as:

  • cancer
  • nerve damage etc.
Biophysics deals solely with combining Physics concepts with biology to the study of biological cells.
For example, studying the electrical signalling in neurons and bacteria.
