Cognitive-Construction, also known as Constructivism, was pioneered by Jean Piaget.
Constructivists purport that people construct their own understanding and knowledge of the world through their experiences and their reflections upon these experiences..

Cognitive constructivism suggests that we 'construct' learning on top of our pre-existing knowledge. This interpretation of learning was revolutionary because it challenged the idea that we simply 'absorb' or 'receive' knowledge.
Cognitivist teaching methods aim to assist students in assimilating new information to existing knowledge, as well as enabling them to make the appropriate modifications to their existing intellectual framework to accommodate that information.
