Consumer law refund change of mind

Some stores have their own in-store policy to offer a refund, exchange or credit note for ‘change-of-mind’ purchases

Check the retailer’s returns policy or terms and conditions before you buy

Retailers can choose not to include items on special or on sale in their refund policy, eg 'no change of mind refunds on sale items'

You DON'T have a legal right to change your mind & return store-bought goods

Even if you've bought the wrong colour or size, stores don't legally have to refund you simply because you've changed your mind

(It's different if items are faulty

) In reality, many shops offer more generous returns policies

But if you simply change your mind about something you bought in a shop and decide you don’t want to keep it, you do not have any rights under consumer law

Some shops offer to accept returns and give you an exchange or refund within a certain amount of time after the purchase
