The Criminal Procedure Rules 2020 replace the Criminal Procedure Rules 2015

The 2020 Rules: consolidate the rules made in 2015 with the 11 sets of amendments made to those rules since then

rearrange Part 3 of the Rules, the rules about case management and pre-trial preparation, to restore the proper sequence of the rules in that Part

The Criminal Procedure Rules are rules about criminal court procedure in magistrates’ courts, the Crown Court, the Court of Appeal and, in extradition appeal cases, the High Court

Each Part of the Criminal Procedure Rules contains rules about parts of that procedure

The forms for use with the Criminal Procedure Rules collect information required by the court for the purposes of criminal case management under the Rules and under other legislation
