National crystallography service

  • What is the National crystallography Service EpSRC?

The National Crystallography Service is a National Research Facility offering single crystal X-ray diffraction services, free at the point of access, to all UK based researchers eligible to apply for EPSRC funding.
You do not currently need to hold an EPSRC grant to apply for use of the service..

  • The discovery of crystallography
First was that the X-rays diffracted, or spread, proving that X-rays were waves.
Second, these rays diffracted in particular directions depending on the nature of the crystal.
Many saw von Laue's results as conclusive proof that atoms are arranged in the shape of a lattice in crystals.
The UK National Crystallography Service (NCS) is a world leading, unique facility providing a service and researching in chemical crystallography. We focus onĀ
