How did Karnataka get its name?

Karnataka gets its name from its large area which means “lofty land”

It is the largest state present in the south of India

Until 1956 it was called State of Mysore and was less than 78,000sq Km in Area

On 1 November 1956, it combined with neighboring territories to form Karnataka with an Area of 191,791 sq KM
