Demography as a science

Demography is a branch of social sciences that deals with the population of humans, changes in the population, and their interactions with the environment, political factors, as well as socio-economic factors. It is also concerned with the growth and distribution of populations in cities, countries, and continents.

The field of science interested in collecting and analyzing these numbers is termed population demographics, also known as demography. Broadly defined, demography is the study of the characteristics of populations. It provides a mathematical description of how those characteristics change over time.

Demography is the science of populations. Demographers seek to understand population dynamics by investigating three main demographic processes: birth, migration, and aging (including death). All three of these processes contribute to changes in populations, including how people inhabit the earth, form nations and societies, and develop culture.
