The shift in macroeconomic strategy in late

2017 has brought some relief to Algeria, though

the sustainability of this approach rests on the adoption of the necessary corrective measures from 2019 onwards. Unless there is a signifi- cant and sustained increase in global oil pric es to offset the impact of medium-term fiscal consolidation, economic growth is set to slow over the coming years until the twin budget and current account deficits are balanced. 6 11 13 16 18 19 20 21
