The Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board Policy on Student Evaluation requires that a student's achievement in a given subject must be based on summative evaluation activities only. These include tests, quizzes, assignments, projects or examinations at the completion of a series or cluster of objectives such as a unit, a major portion of a program or at the end of a year. Activities other than those noted above are generally considered as Formative Evaluation. Work marked and done in this context is intended as a "practice" activity designed to provide on -going feedback to the teacher on the progress of a student's learning. Marks obtained under formative evaluation are not averaged under summative evaluation. Note: Homework can be considered in the evaluation process1. If the completion of the homework is designed to master specific objectives of the program.
2. The marking scheme recognizes that part of the evaluation of the homework focuses on
literacy. Homework that meets these two criteria can count for a maximum of 10% of the term's mark.Evaluation Plan
Evaluation will consist of 2 to 4 summative tests per term, which usually cover particular modules. These evaluations will count between 75% to 100% of the term mark. The remaining percentage will be based on assignments & homework which will be collected by the teacher. There will be a midyear exam worth 20% of the year's mark as well as June final worth30% of the total year's mark.
Please note that there is a MEQ (Quebec ministry of education) prototype exam in June.Class work & homework
