DESCRIPTION: Theory, research and practice on psychological testing and assessment. Statistical analysis and in-depth presentation of the psychometric properties of tests and scales. Evaluation of achievement, intelligence, cognitive, neuropsychological and

personality tests. Exposure to the most frequently used tests. RATIONALE: The module surveys the theory and practice of psychological testing and measurement, the application of psychological tests and assessment in educational, clinical, and industrial/organizational settings offering both didactic and hands- on training in psychometric theory and techniques. Students gain knowledge and practical skills relevant to different areas of specialization in the field of psychology. LEARNING OUTCOMES: Upon completion of this module, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate a solid understanding of basic concepts in

psychometrics.

2. Discuss cultural and ethical considerations in testing and

assessment of individuals and/or groups.

3. Apply the obtained theoretical knowledge for evaluating the

main psychometric properties of popular psychological tests and instruments through a data collection process.

4. Discuss the utility as well as the relative strengths and

weaknesses of tests applied in various fields of psychology.

METHOD OF TEACHING AND

LEARNING: In line with the teaching and learning strategy of the college, the following tools are used:

Û Class lectures will consist of demonstrations of the material presented, videos, discussions, group and individual work, role play examples. Û Interactive learning (class discussions, group and individual work) and practical hands-on problems solved in class and

Û Lab session will include practice on SPSS as well as presentation (administration, scoring, and interpretation) of various popular psychological tests.
