Warhammer cosmology

  • Are 40k and fantasy connected?

As they explain it, the worlds of Warhammer Fantasy and 40,000 are separate universes, linked by the Warp.
The Elves of WHF and the Eldar of 40k are similar, but they are not the same race.
The Slann of the Lizardmen are similar to the Old Ones of 40k, but not the same race either..

  • Can the chaos gods be killed?

Nope, the chaos gods are connected to sentient life and feed off of it.
Killing one would probably mean you'd have to cut off their source of power in real space or disrupt the warp by some other means..

  • How are the Warhammer universes connected?

Warhammer 40,000 was initially conceived as a science fiction counterpart to Warhammer Fantasy, and while they are not connected to each other in a shared universe, their settings share similar themes and tropes..

  • Is 40k a galaxy or universe?

The Milky Way Galaxy is the realm in which Warhammer 40,000 takes place.
It is a vast spiral galaxy, ninety-thousand light years across and fifteen-thousand light years thick, containing roughly four hundred billion stars..

  • Is Warhammer 40K set in our universe?

    4.

    1. K takes place in our galaxy, so places like Earth (called Terra) and the Sun are in there, but the galaxy is unrecognisable in many ways

Warhammer 40,000 was initially conceived as a science fiction counterpart to Warhammer Fantasy, and while they are not connected to each other in a shared universe, their settings share similar themes and tropes..

  • Who created the Warhammer universe?

The Warhammer 40,000 universe (often shortened to Warhammer 4.

    1. K, or just 4
    2. K) encompasses tabletop strategy games, magazines, novels, films, and video games.
    3. Warhammer 4.
    4. K was created by Rick Priestley in 1987 as a futuristic continuation to his 1983 Warhammer Fantasy Battle tabletop game

  • Why is it called Warhammer?

Sigmar, founder of The Empire, wielded a mighty Dwarf-made Warhammer from which the name of the "Warhammer Fantasy" setting is derived..

  • The Imperium of Man's territory in the Milky Way Galaxy in Warhammer 40,000 is divided into five zones, known as "segmentae".

Introduction and Disclaimers

So let's get the introduction out of the way, I am Dante on Discord with people on discord calling me Hashi or you might know me from Twitter as @HashionDiscord or as my old handle @Alpharius_lives.
If somehow you were not aware of what Warhammer is before seeing this blog it is the mythos the games produced by Games Workshop take place in, you might call this a Unified Warhammer Cosmology but personally I never really had them separated which is why I insist on the verse just being Warhammer.
I made this blog a little over two years ago to mainly just present the scaling for Age of Sigmars' Cosmos Arcane that I pioneered with the 40k sections being built over time to support said scaling.
That's not to say that I haven't pioneered some of the 40k arguments for example the skein, veil, material multiverse, and limbo sections are all mine but the highest tier ones were pioneered by others which will be credited below.

Overview

This article/section is being updated from time to time.
Therefore, this page/section is not ever really complete and may have information added in the future, possibly even having massive portions retracted.

,

The Eldar Webway

TL;DR doesn't really add anything to the height of the cosmology.

,

The Material Multiverse

The main material universe connects to the Warp but so do a multitude of other universes, for this section I will be using stuff from Fantasy if you're curious as to why see the later section on why Fantasy and 40k share the warp.

,

The Material Universe

So the Material Universe is similar to ours in some ways like having multiple galaxies for starters:

,

The Veil and Skein

Before we talk about what most people would call the multiverse let's quickly talk about the veil: this is just one of the barriers you must pass to access the warp:

,

The Warp

To start off about the warp proper, let's absolutely destroy this notion that it is only Galaxy sized.
Besides the later dimensional tiering scaling which would logically make it bigger than a universe let alone a galaxy there are these statements that do show its larger than the Galaxy:

,

Warp Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

So beyond just basic stuff that wouldn't apply to the warp like space time etc, the warp has layers:
